June Youth Month 2023 – Discussing Consent, Sex, Pregnancy & Options
For Youth Month 2023, Courage has developed a workshop presentation, with speaker notes, and a class lesson plan workbook to help you engage with your learners on the subject of consent, sex, pregnancy and option counselling for unplanned or crisis pregnancy. You can download both of these documents below.
The School Workshop Presentation introduces the importance of creating a personal vision for our future, whilst understanding our sexual and reproductive health rights. It explains the process of puberty, consent, sex, birth control, conception and pregnancy, and encourages learners to define the actions they should take to achieve their personal vision. It then encourages learners to identify the causes of unplanned or crisis pregnancy in their community and what can prevent this. It explains the options available to someone experiencing an unplanned or crisis pregnancy and then asks learner to identify the partners they will need to help them achieve their personal vision. Please download the presentation below and be sure to read the speaker notes to help you present
The School Lesson Plan Workbook can be printed out in colour or black and white (back-to-back pages) and completed in class by learners (aged 12 and above). It explains what sexual and reproductive health rights are, and provides learners with a personal visioning exercise. It explains the process of puberty, consent, sex and pregnancy. It allows learner to explore the causes and what can prevent unplanned or crisis pregnancy in their community and explains the options available to someone in this position. Finally it helps learner to develop an action and partnership plan to help them achieve their personal vision. Please download the school lesson plan workbook below.
There are some videos and posters below that can also help you run your Courage Consent, Sex, Pregnancy & Option Counselling Workshop and School Lesson Plan.
